Sailing Instruction
For over 35 years, we’ve been teaching the sport of sailing to people, young and old, and of all abilities. No prior sailing experience is required as our nationally certified sailing instructors start with the basics and guide you through Sail Canada’s nationally recognized CANSail program. Whether you seek a recreational pastime or a competitive sporting activity, our programs will equip you with the knowledge and skills to safely enjoy the sport of sailing, alone, with friends and family on board, or on the race course.
Our Youth Learn to Sail Program, on beautiful Conestogo Lake, is a unique summer sailing program for children ages 9-18. Our program runs Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm throughout the summer and offers 4 convenient school bus pickup and drop off locations in the Region. Through a combination of games, on land and on water lessons, program participants follow the CANSail curriculum and work towards their nationally recognized CANSail certification. We provide qualified coaches that are fully trained and certified by Sail Canada. All of our staff hold certification in first aid, powerboat operation, boat rescue, life saving, and coaching theory. Conestoga’s Youth Sailing Program is open to both club members and non members.
Our Adult Learn to Sail Program is taught over a series of weekday evenings or weekends throughout the summer. Through brief, but informative, on-land lessons and fun and challenging on water drills our course participants work on the knowledge and skills required to attain their nationally recognized CANSail certification. We provide qualified coaches that are fully trained and certified by Sail Canada. All of our staff hold certification in first aid, powerboat operation, boat rescue, life saving, and coaching theory.
Private Lessons
Conestoga Sailing Club offers private instruction for all ages and levels. Our private lessons are available outside of our Youth and Adult Learn to Sail Program hours. Our instructors are patient, knowledgeable and happy to work on any aspect of your sailing development. All private lessons are subject to instructor availability.
